  Looking for Birth Parents

  i myself was not adopted, however my husband's mother was.

  she passed away seven years ago and both of her adoptive parents are gone now as well.

  i have always been interested in finding more about her birth family for a couple of reasons.

  I found my dad after 40 years. It does take alot of work sometimes. If I were you I would start by talking to your husbands oldest closest adoptive relatives. Usually they will have some of the story and may be able to start you in the right direction. They usually know things that have been old family secrets.

  Get a date of birth, where she was born, any info what so ever. Your work will be cut out for you. Was she adopted as a baby or older child? It could be all sorts of things. She could have been adopted within the family. The family may have been large and poor, not able to feed another mouth. It could have been incest, rape, affair and swept under the carpet quietly. She may have been secretly born at home and given away with little record of birthfamily. A lot of births were at home back then. See if there were orphanages in the area.

  It will help to get an idea of the town and practices in the year of her birth. If you would like to give what info you have, there are alot of people here that like alittle challenge and could maybe help you search. Good luck. I know how good it feels to finish the puzzle.

  good evening all,.

  i'm ashamed to say i have lurked here for a couple of years without having the courage to jump in.. the insight i have found in these posts has done much to heal the broken hearted.. there is no one that can truly understand this particular experience this without living it.. i was raised in the lower mainland of bc., i will share my own experience as courage will alow.. sincere thanks to all of you for helping me to heal and understand that i am not all by myself.

  the last few days here in the dallas / fort worth area have been very stormy... some of the heaviest rain i've seen for quite some time.

  yesterday's dallas morning news had a great pic of what was left after a storm blew through... .

  the reason i ask this question is because today my 24 yr old son had a bench warrant issued against him.

  why you say, because he didn't know how to say no to drugs.

  he got caught with enough drugs to be charged with possesion and with the possiblity of trafficing.

  Sorry to hear about your son OFC.

  Kids do have a way with making poor decisions alot of times. Learning to make better choices comes from paying the price of making bad ones. He is your son and you love him but don't go crazy trying to fix his life, as a 24 yr old adult he is in control of how hard or easy he wants to make it by the choices HE makes.

  You are giving him the most love by letting him squirm abit (hard as it maybe), for he will (hopefully) learn that the choices he is making have consequences that he does not like. HE chose not to use the $500 for the lawyer and it made his situation worse. You did your part, HE didn't do his so he is paying for that choice. As a parent it is hard to watch them keep slamming against that wall. But the more pillows you throw out to sofen the blows the longer he can keep doing it. If you have to pay money again you might want to leave out the middle man (your son).

  Can you imagine that? This happened to him over a year ago and he has had to have regular blood tests to prove he has no blood in his system.

  I'm back, and survived the plane flight!!

  just got back from corfu today, naturally looking like a bronzed adonis.. even the plane flight wasn't as bad as i thought, even though it was a bit bumpy on the ride home.

  hired a car and saw some of the island, beautiful scenery, sandy beaches, secluded coves, olive groves and historical monuments.

  the greeks are such fantastically warm and friendly.

  Is there life after menopause?

  a few months ago, at my last doctors visit, she strongly suggested i get off birth control pills to let my body go through menopause naturally.

  it took a few days for me to work this out.

  although i really dont want any more children, the idea that i could no longer have children saddened me.

  You WILL survive. I went thru surgical menopause at 42. I couldn't go on hormone replacement for a couple months. Talk about a roller coaster ride. KILL!!!!!! CRY!!!!!!!!!! KILL!!!!!!!!!! CRY!!!!!!!!! HOT FLASHES!!!!!!!! Did I mention KILL???????? I finally got my hormones and felt muuuuuuuuuuuuch better. I have'nt taken any hormones for a couple years and am doing fine. I get an occational hot flash but very livable. Let your family know you love them when you can and urge (it won't take much) them to stay out of your way when you can't. You are not in control of the situation, don't feel bad about it, be kind and loving to yourself. I likened it to a drug addict kicking the habit. I don't think the body knows the difference. You don't have to go cold turkey tho, your doctor can help get you thru it. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

  Did you ever get a job? I missed it if you did. Hope your life is settling down.

  Ya just didn't want to do the presentation, admit it! Just kidding. I see your point about jumping thru hoops, it just isn't right sometimes that someone can't be given a job because they can do it right, instead of having to be drilled for all the right answers, when they know you already have them or you wouldn't be doing it now. If they really gave you the job, they would have to pay you more for it. This way you are saving them money. Wonder how long it takes them to find a replacement???????
